We've often driven down to the quaint township of Fort Langley and seen the train (our little boys love trains!), but we've never ventured into the actual Historic Site itself. This day, we decided to make a family event out of it, and it proved to be really fun and interesting for everyone. It has something for the adults (loads of history), and something for the kids too (which as we parents know, is ESSENTIAL for keeping Masters Bob and Billy entertained!).
There's a great 20 minute movie to watch (good for about 6 years and up - our 4 year old just wanted to climb under the seats!), lots of green space for them to run around, and lots of volunteers dressed up in period clothing to tell the story of old times (or as our 7 year old puts it, "When you were little, Mommy").
Visting the old buildings and seeing the old-fashioned items (checkers game, bed linens, books, plates and bowls) was interesting, and of course, learning about why the Fort was located in such a prime position - for trade purposes. All in all, a really fun day that lots of families will enjoy - and I daresay, we even learned something!
This was also an outing that we captured entirely in Instagram from beginning to end - with all of the images finished and posted from our iPhone only. Lots of fun and proof that the apps and quality are here to deliver great images.
